The PEL HYDROL HV series consists of superior quality hydraulic lubricants with very high viscosity index (VI) and a very low pour point.
They are produced from high quality base oils, fortified with additives which provide an increased lubrication ability and meet the severe requirements of hydraulic systems found in modern construction equipment.
The PEL HYDROL HV series with the very high viscosity index (VI), ensures the system’s efficiency under high pressure and low temperature conditions, as well as in changing environmental temperatures, where a stable viscosity is needed to prevent the premature wear of the parts of the hydraulic system. These desired viscosity/temperature characteristics are obtained in the PEL HYDROL HV lubricants by the excellent low temperature flow properties and high VI of base oils and by the addition of a shear stable VI improver to the base oils.
Marine hydraulic systems may be required to operate in both tropic and arctic conditions. These conditions require a lubricant with a considerably higher VI than those of normal petroleum oils. The lubricants must be formulated to be stabilized and balanced, to prevent mechanical shearing in the pumps and hydraulic circuits, and to prevent loss of VI and viscosity.
PEL HYDROL HV provide excellent protection against wear and corrosion, given that the extreme operating conditions contribute to the creation of sludge and deposits as a result of the oxidation of the lubricant and hence reduce the lubricants lifetime. Due to a specially designed additive package, which combines a thermally stable ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyl DithioPhosphate) with a carefully balanced rust and
detergent system to give superior thermal stability and filterability, they present excellent behavior in extreme pressure conditions and very good detergent and anti rust properties.
The PEL HYDROL HV lubricants are recommended for hydraulic deck and cargo handling equipment installed on ocean going vessels. They are recommended for such applications as the hydraulic systems of hatch covers, winches, windglasses, capstans, deck cranes, water tight doors, deepwell cargo pumps, steering telemotors, and controllable pitch propellers.
Most of the equipment for which these oils are recommended is of a highly specialized nature, so no general guide to viscosity selection can be provided.
PEL HYDROL HV are designed to meet the performance requirements of all major international hydraulic specifications as well as the requirements of the major hydraulic equipment manufactures.
